IPH predicts dramatic rise in chronic diseases - hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes (ROI data)

Chronic conditions such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes are expected to increase dramatically – according to a new study carried out by the Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH).

The IPH study Making Chronic Conditions Count describes the prevalence of these conditions in 2007 and estimated levels for 2015 and 2020 across the island of Ireland. It forecasts a 40% increase in the number of people living with these conditions in the Republic of Ireland by 2020.

‘Health Catalogue’ Published by Health Information and Quality Authority

The Health Information and Quality Authority today published a comprehensive catalogue of health information sources. The catalogue will increase awareness about the purpose and content of these sources and how the data can be accessed. The publication of the catalogue will also identify any gaps or inconsistencies in health information.

Translating research into community action - seminar presentations available

Translating research into community action' , 20 August 2010 was organised in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Public Health (CoE), Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) and the Community Development and Health Network (CDHN). This work falls under the works stream Public Health Knowledge Integration and Knowledge Brokerage of the CoE which was created in 2008 to help bridge the gap between research, policy and practice, and embed CoE research into policy dilemmas.
