Smoking and health inequalities to be addressed at European Week Against Cancer 2013

 

The Irish Cancer Society in partnership with the Association of European Cancer Leagues, is hosting the Official Conference for the European Week Against Cancer in the Aviva stadium Dublin  which finishes today (May 30).

The conference is an associated event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU and was addressed by the Irish Minister for Health Dr. James Reilly T.D.

IPH Senior Policy Officer Dr Helen McAvoy will address a workshop on the relationship between smoking and health inequalties at 12.30, Friday 30 May.

Northern Ireland Assembly questions on reducing speed limits in certain areas to 20 mph

IPH response to HIQA Draft National Demographic Dataset and Guidance for use in health and social care settings in Ireland

The current absence of a standardised national demographic dataset in Ireland has resulted in health and social care providers developing their own rules for the data items they wish to collect on individuals. The consequence of this ad hoc approach is that there are several different ways to collect the same data item. A national demographic dataset is a standard set of data that uniquely and uniformly identifies each individual that avails of health and social care services.
